The festival will be a get together for those who share the same passion for freedom in the mountains and in their lives. The weekend will be packed with activities related to freeride skiing and everything connected with it and will culminate in an open race for amateurs as well as professionals, the purpose of which will be pure fun.
During the festival, you will get a chance to test splitboards, freeride and all mountain skis of top brands with the option of buying.
The workshops will concentrate on gaining and improving practical skills both off piste (freeride, ski touring, split, avalanches) and on piste (skiing and snowboard techniques, ski ballet, sports photography).

LOCATION
Ski and splitboard testing as well as starts of all workshops will take place at the lower station of the 8er Jet lift.
Spectators and fans area will be in front of the 8er Alm restaurant.
The party and the evening programme will take place in and around the Kristall bar.
There will be two race categories:
MEN
with unbuckled boots in walk mode (if you don´t own ski touring boots, we are happy to lend them)
WOMEN
in swimsuits or bikinis – on skis or snowboard
RACE JURY

The festival is free, but you do need to register. Once the programme is finalized, we will send you an application form where you can register for the workshops and for the race – to make sure everything runs smoothly during the event.
The festival participants need to organize their own accommodation. We recommend sleeping directly in the resort which will allow an unhindered enjoyment of the evening parties.
The options include:

As the festival is meant to be free for everyone who loves mountains, it would not be possible without the kind help of our partners. A big thank you to all of them!
The first edition of freeride festival called FreerideFest took place in Austrian Hochfügen on the first weekend of april. These were three great days full of workshops, ski testing and fun.
Names such as alpine skier Ondrej Bank, kayaker Vavra Hradilek or former mogul skier Nikola Sudova arrived to support the event.
After the warm up thursday party festival started on friday morning where visitors had an opportunity to to taste freeriding, avalanche search, ski balet or skitouring during workshops and unconventional contests. Led by top czech freeriders Robin Kaleta and Simona Hrstkova or slovakian star Katarina Lehocka. Skitouring workshop was supervised by UIAGM guides Zdenek Hak and Lukas Palka. Ski balet had Nikola Sudova - olympic mogul racer. There were also professionals teaching ski technique, sports photoshooting, freestyle snowboard and avalanches.
All workshops were overbooked but atmosphere was so relaxed that eventually nobody was left unsatisfied. More than a 100 participants took part in workshops on friday. Others had opportunity to test offpiste skis from Scott, Line, Black Crows, Forest skis, Bear skis as well as avalanche equipment Arva and Ortovox.
There was also a skitouring contest on friday called Bretuv memorial, inspired by one of the freeridecamp participant. A short sprint was ran with skins glued in opposite direction.
Highlight of the whole weekend was saturdays 1. aprils freeride race with its own rules - gents had to ski down with open ski boots and activated walk mode while ladies did the whole face in bikini.
Jury consisted of Ondrej Bank, Vavra Hradilek, Robin Kaleta and finned of the tipping contest. Most gents focused on creativity and jury had to decide between various dresses, on purpose infladet abs, balet tricks etc. Ladies surprised everyone with amount of agressivness that was awarded by a flower and a huge applause in the finish.
Evenings party was even more interesting with arm wrestling contest and price giving ceremony that required Ondra Bank to dance with every single lady since according to the jury all of them won and took home a one day lift ticket to Hochfügen.
The freeride fest has produced a lot of positive energy and love which was the original idea of Robin Kaleta. It was a perfect final mark of the winter and wouldnt have been possible without our sponsors.
